Bonding Application

Bonding is a treatment method used in dentistry to make aesthetic corrections. This method is used to correct cosmetic problems such as the shape, size or colour of teeth. Bonding usually involves the following steps:

Preparation: Bonding usually does not require anaesthesia, because it is usually a painless procedure. The dentist first prepares the surface of the tooth to be treated. This may include a light abrasion to remove roughness and stains on the tooth.

Application of the bonding agent: The dentist selects a special resin material for bonding. This resin material can be coloured to match the natural tooth colour. A suitable bonding agent is applied to the tooth surface.

Moulding the resin: The dentist applies the resin material onto the tooth after the bonding agent has been applied. The resin is then moulded to achieve the shape and size of the tooth and the desired corrections. The dentist carefully trims the resin and reshapes it as necessary to achieve the desired result.

Polishing Once the shaping is complete, the dentist applies a polishing process to precisely match the resin to the surface of the tooth. This gives the resin a smooth and natural appearance.

Bonding can usually be completed in a single session and usually gives fast results. Bonding can be used for a variety of aesthetic corrections, such as fixing cracks, removing stains, closing gaps between teeth or correcting the shape of teeth. However, bonding can be a more temporary solution than porcelain laminates (veneers), and the resin material can wear or stain over time.
